Rose grew up in New Mexico and then moved to Colorado. After a few years of “couch surfing,” she completed an associate’s degree in Automotive Technology but realized that was not her passion. She worked for a few years and ultimately decided to pursue a career in the forest service or the outdoors. She started with Positive Paths in the fall of 2021 to help with her goal of pursuing her Associate in Science (AS) degree from Mesa Community College, with an emphasis on sustainability and biology. She successfully completed her coursework and graduated from MCC in May 2022. Her ultimate goal is to transfer into a university program in wildlife conservation and ecology and eventually work for the forest service. Rose is married and recently moved back to New Mexico with her husband to be closer to her mother, whom she helps support. Her grandmother has always been an inspiration to Rose, and she hopes to follow in her footsteps doing her best to “protect the natural beauty of the Earth.” Rose admires women like her grandmother who “fight for the things they believe in and do not stay down for long.”
