We support East Valley women by providing a life bridge to economic stability, personal growth, and professional achievement. During the course of the academic year, scholar-mentees attend individual and group mentoring meetings, as well as occasional workshops on topics of interest. The annual Night of Heroes Gala is typically held in the spring of each year and honors the East Valley Man and Woman of the Year. As of fall 2021, the organization had served 92 women with ongoing scholarship support and individual mentoring, while offering services to hundreds of other women.

Shelby is a first-generation college graduate and during her first two years of college, she did not know what she wanted to do. She got involved in Phi Theta Kappa, Up 2 Us, and Americorps. While at ASU she worked in the Changemaker Central department as the social marketing and media chair. She recently received and accepted a full-time job offer with Recovia in Phoenix, AZ as their Social Media and Talent Coordinator, which she started in June 2022.

Sharon

Sharon graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) in April 2022. She was born in Iran but her family had to leave the country when she was a child, so they immigrated to Germany where she received her high school diploma. In Germany, she attended a program to become a therapy assistant and she worked with patients with dementia. That was when her passion for healthcare began. She came to the United States in 2015 and worked to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential. Sharon speaks Farsi, Iranic, German, and English. Her husband passed away three years ago, leaving her as a single mother of one son (now 18 years old). She would like to proceed into an RN program but says realistically she will need to go to work first, and then when money permits, pursue her associate's or bachelor's degree towards becoming an RN. She has wanted to “be a nurse for a very long time.” She passed her national licensure exam for nursing (NCLEX) in June and is currently interviewing for nursing positions.
